Mid SummerNight Feast- Festival Of Cinema 2018
Mid SummerNight Feast- Festival Of Cinema 2018 was a soft opening for the Kew Gardens Festival Of Cinema which will be running from August 3rd -12th. The SummerNight Feast had some of the best food vendors/ restaurants showcasing their food/products for guests to sample for a small fee of $3-$10. Vendors /restaurants participated from all over Queens. There were some of the most delicious ices creams, sweet treats and food. We sampled a whole variety of treats. We were able to see and taste the love and commitment that was put into preparation of the food at this event. The DJ on set kept every one dancing as the evening went on. Everyone enjoys great food and good music that truly makes you want to stick around and mingle. The evening turned out to be a wonderful, very well organized and fun filled event. I had the true pleasure of tasting Scoops in Cohoots, which is a Plotting Wickedly Ice Cream Ice Cream Co. as they would call it, and they are absolutely right. Each flavor is spiked with a spirit, either champagne, whiskey, etc. and oh boy it's Simply Delicious! Brady Center’s 2018 Bear Awards Honoring Real Life Heroes Helping to Prevent Gun Violence
The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence hosted their annual Bear Awards in honor of Jim “Bear” Brady in NYC on October 1st, 2018, an evening that celebrated champions and real heroes in the gun violence prevention space. Reflecting on one year after the Las Vegas massacre, the evening was inspiring, uplifting, and left guests feeling charged to create change. A highlight of the evening was the live auction which featured items such as a set visit and meet and greet to MADAM SECRETARY generously donated by TEA LEONI, an ERIC CLAPTON experience at Madison Square Garden and tickets to The Golden Globe Awards official after party. Amid the auction, BRYAN CRANSTON surprised both guests and Christie’s auctioneer ROBBIE GORDY by jumping on stage to offer two tickets to opening night of NETWORK, his new Broadway play opening this fall. The winner will enjoy two tickets, a backstage meet and greet, and access to the after party on December 6th. After one guest rounded out the bidding at $11,000, which according to Bryan were tickets earmarked for his agents, he surprised the crowd again by offering a second pair for a matching bid, thus taking seats away from their “mooching relatives,” according to his wife who shouted from Table 8. (We had the honors of receiving this information and write up from Sunshine Sachs) Thanks so much! Photo Credit: Bryan Bedder for Getty Images on behalf of Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
Margaret Mead Film Festival
Margaret Mead Film Festival this year honors her legacy by connecting us with communities around the world through actions of others who refused to give up. This years festival at American Museum of Natural History ran from October 18th-21st. Opening night all attendees had the pleasure of screening the premiere of "Stolen Daughters" by Directors Karen Edwards and Gemme Atwl an HBO Documentary. This film gave you a direct look on how girls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram (a terrorist group) escaped from imprisonment and restructured their lives. There were so many films that shed light on how resilient we all are. Opening night was also about networking and connecting with others "all about film". At the closing night ceremony The Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award was given to Christy Garland, the director of What Walaa Wants, this film was inspiring, a girl being raised in a refugee camp by her siblings while her mother was in prison and overcoming some of the constant challenges of growing up as a female in the Palestinian Security Forces. A big thank you to Manager of Media Relations, Michael Walker for an opportunity to understand what the Margaret Mead Film Festival is truly all about. We were delighted to have access to Q&A's of some talented and gifted film makers and directors. Looking forward to next year.
LG Business Solutions Tech Tour 2018
This year's NYC LG Business Solutions TechTour event was held at Metropolitan West. This event gave us exclusive access to the latest commercial display, solar and mobile technologies. There was one thing that stood out the most for us and it was their moving robot Choli. You could control her with a gaming remote, take photos with a background displayed of various locations in NYC. She had a giant LG phone display attached to her which displayed the agenda for the event whcig im quite sure could be programmed as desired. Choli, is a clear example of how innovation through technology is evolving tremendously. The evening event was a night to remember with a DJ Carol C performance, mobile oyster bar, passed hors d’oeuvres and a lot of networking. Thanks LG #LGontheroad
