The Makeup Show has now become one of the most talked about beauty shows today. For several years this team of beauty professionals are consistently evolving with some of the best brands and makeup artists in and outside of the United States. This year these professionals gave insight on how the future is enhancing when it comes to perfecting beauty, even for that stay home mom who decides to step out of her comfort zone with a clean and subtle makeover. The Makeup Show set it off with a wonderful brunch day for a team of influencers and media personal. Each person was handed a fully stocked handbag with products from some of The Makeup Show Vendors - Makeup Forever, Perricone MD (which we adore), Smashbox, Danessa Myricks, NYX, Melanie Mills Hollywood (another favorite) B3 LimeLife by Alcone, Stilla and Damone Roberts, just to name a few. This beautifully designed leather crafted handbag by Makeup Forever also came with a leather cased matching mirror that was super cute. This press day event also included a fully stocked brunch and cocktails that were extremely delicious sponsored by Kettle One. On opening day there was a line outside the venue before 9am on a rainy morning with attendees in anticipation to see whats behind those doors. Entering the venue you could see an a variety of summer colors that was so breathtaking, lipsticks, eye shadow, foundations, etc. There were panel booths set up with sessions scheduled for everyone to see and understand how to apply makeup correctly and ask questions about your skin type, or just getting to know what is your perfect shade of foundation should be. Makeup Forever is now one of my favorite brands. I have tried several makeups, with oily skin i am constantly patting my face all day but with Makeup Forever Foundation Matte Velvet those days are over! Each day at The Makeup Show, this two day event gave you an opportunity to learn about new products from makeup tutorials, watch & learn from hair stylists, cosmetologists, aestheticians, and beauty executives. We learned so much and are truly looking forward to another great year which has already been scheduled for May 3rd -4th, 2020. See you there!
Each year The Whisky Extravaganza turns up the heat and we love it! This year, the biggest whiskey event in New York City was held at Weylin in Williamsburg Brooklyn NY. If you're a whiskey connoisseur or a beginner this would be a great place for you to check out. At The Whisky Extravaganza every whiskey brand you could think of was there, Widow Jane, Westland, Sagamore Spirits Rye, Bruichladdich, Singelton, Bulleit, Johnny Walker, The Whiskey Five Station and more. The selections were endless. The Whisky Extravaganza is also a networking opportunity to connect with established brands or startups in the whiskey business. Upon entering the venue you were greeted with a whiskey glass and a token. The token in each glass allowed you to pick up a cigar of your choice at the cigar station to take home. This year entering the venue there was also a welcome cocktail by Amanda Victoria, the 2018 gold medal winner of the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. They greeted each guest with a refreshing summer like Glen Moray whiskey cocktail. This year was filled with surprises. Hennessy was an added on addition as one of the participants this year. Hennessy set up a beautifully stocked cocktail making class in the lower level. Each cocktail making station was fully stocked with everything you would need to concoct the best cocktail. The class started out with the brand ambassador explaining the history of this extraordinary brand, then we all were coached on how to make a French 75 with cognac. As the class progressed everyone was given a tasting of the four year old aged V.S.O.P. This tastefully, well organized class ended with a shot of Hennessy's six year old aged XO. Each year this event is superb! Please stay tuned and we will keep you updated on their next tasting event. Thanks Katelyn Hudson (polishedpigmedia) for such a wonderful experience each year.
Taco Knockout is an annual throwdown that foodies look forward to each year. This year we had an opportunity to see why this most anticipated event of the year is always sold out. Just a few days before Cinco De Mayo, everyone was ready to sink their teeth into some of the best tacos made by over 14 of the best NYC taquerias. Each one of these outrageously good tacos made with “super-fresh” fillings were definitely conversation starters. We had the pleasure of tasting each and every one. These mouth watering, super crunchy or soft tacos had the entire venue smelling delicious, Burger & Lobster had an amazing Truffle Aioli, Braised Tri-Tip Lobster Taco with sliced jalapeno and Herb Crema that was super delicious. Anejo Tribeca put together a Smoked Pistachio Salsa Macha, Spring Herbs with a topped Pickled Radish , a true pleasure. This jammed paced event had everyone enjoying their Instagram moment with the a photo booth and a mind blowing Michelada bar that was fully stocked with every detail including bacon, pickles, tasty chili chicken and a line up of seasoning to add a beautiful finishing touch to your cocktail. Modelo Beer spiked up the evening as well. You were given a token to vote for just one which seemed impossible. Our vote is top secret! Thanks Thrilists for such an amazing night!
Queens is a very important part of New York City and Taste of Queens 2019 proved it on May 7th at New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This tasteful event was jammed packed with a variety of restaurateurs, chefs and vendors all based out of Queens NYC. Cocktails, food, and a long list of desserts all lined up and waiting for you. You could smell the aroma of food as you entered, delight and enjoyment was written all over everyone's face. We were surprised that a lot of these restaurants, actually located in queens and don't get the credit they deserve when it comes to great food. Taste of Queens has definitely made a mark for us to spread the word on where to go in Queens when it comes to taste, service and quality food. Queens Curry Kitchen, was one of our favorites with their Nacho-Nacho, a special tex mex infusion and a spike of heat with jalapenos. Casa del Chef had a mouth watering Grilled Branzino with a special sauce that kept us captivated and wanting more. Delicious cocktails were made by Leaf Bar and Lounge, and ooh were they delicious! Brooklyn Brewery, Square Wine & Spirits and Catskill Distillery all were a true delight. There were over 40+ vendors all under one roof and we wanted to taste them all. If you missed it, don't worry we will make sure to let you know next year. We are looking forward to see whats in store next year in the heart of Queens!
We had the pleasure of attending the New York City Wine Fest and we were super excited by all the energy upon arrival. Every vendor was set up and ready to keep pouring and pouring. There was unlimited access to some of the most popular brands of wine along with a few other spirits. One of my favorite was Coole Swan. a delicious tasting cream liqueur. This single malt Irish whiskey is blended with real white Belgian chocolate and fresh, natural dairy cream. It isn't wine but for me it was delicious and i had the opportunity to return to this booth several times, that's how much i enjoyed it. The entire room was so energetic with people playing giant jenga, scrabble and simply networking and enjoying the moment. It was such a comfortable and tasteful event, and we will be looking forward to it next year.
We have so many great things to say about The Sex Expo we could write a book. That's how amazing this hidden gem is! We truly had no idea what to expect since this was our first year in attendance and will definitely not be our last. The Sex Expo has literally something for all adults. Each station the vendors were so pleasant, friendly and comfortable talking about each product displayed. I was truly touched by Carly S, sex educator from dildoordildont.wordpress.com. She was a speaker on Advanced Blowjobs sponsored by Pleasure Chest, this class was so very classy, informative and jam backed, it blew my mind away. There were seminars on every topic that you could possibly think of. I was so excited to be in the presence of all the positive energy and like minded individuals who were eager to get such great information on bettering and enhancing their sex life. I would also like to give a special thanks to The Sex Expo for such an awesome gift bag! We really will enjoy each and every product in it and there was quite a few :-). Thanks Lauren Kaufman from Manifest.
This is some of the details from Day 1 of the Tribeca TV Festival in NYC honoring Law & Order's SVU 20th Anniversary & Screening. The Tribeca TV Festival is proud to pay tribute to two decades of this iconic and impactful New York City fan-favorite with an exclusive preview screening of the 20th season premiere and a conversation with those both in front of and behind the camera who have made SVU the institution it is today. Details sent to us by Tribeca Tv Festival : Creator and Executive Producer Dick Wolf called star and Executive Producer Mariska Hargitay the “grandmother of the #MeToo Movement” which got vigorous applause. “Ain’t no grandmother wearing these shoes,” Mariska joked, showing off her stilettos to the crowd. Mariska also spoke about her initial involvement with the series saying “It’s so unprecedented to be on a show that’s gone twenty years, even though Dick’s done it twice.” When reading the script for the first time, Mariska loved how progressive and brave it was. She learned how important talking about these issues are for society. “It’s a topic that has been swept under the carpet and has brought the victims so much shame, to bring these stories to the water cooler has been a privilege and a gift,” Mariska said. Ice T laughed saying “Dick called me and asked me to do four episodes… now it’s been twenty years.”Moderator Savannah Sellers (NBC News Correspondent), asked Mariska who inspires the character Olivia Benson. Mariska responded with, “I think Olivia Benson is an amalgamation of my strong female friends. There are so many women I admire and look up to and I try to grab pieces of those and also that part of me that is a fierce badass lioness.”When speaking about the impact the show has had over the years, Mariska touched on how Law & Order: SVU is the ideal version of how sexual assault victims should be received in the world. “Victims are believed. The stories have always been there. The stats are the same. The stories are just in the news now.”
This years Whisky Extravaganza was Spectacular! This event was so well organized with such pleasant staff and volunteers. There were about 30 booths of vendors with some of the best dram you could taste. The vendors were pleasantly waiting and pouring as much spirits as you would love to taste. There were seminars given on how these barreled spirits come to you at your local distributors. We were so glad to be a part of this extravaganza, brands like Dead Rabbit, Glen Moray and much more were there making up cocktails and the catering of the food was delicious. So many whiskey lovers all in one room ready to enjoy their favorite brands. You were given a monogrammed glass and a token to redeem our cigar at the cigar station. This Whisky Extravaganza was such a true delight!
The 14th Annual Vendy Awards was such a treat literally. There were about 25 food vendor trucks from all over the five boroughs for everyone to enjoy and place their votes based on five categories. Best Breakfast, Rookie of the Year, Best of Market and Best Dessert and the Ultimate Grand Prize-Vendy Cup Award. The Co-Director Mohamed Attia, of the Street Vendor Project made everyone feel welcomed and involved with the entire process and informed us on how and why the Street Vendor Project is so necessary. These food truck vendors work so hard on a daily basis for people like us and have to fight the system daily. I truly enjoyed two of the most amazing food trucks at this event and they won in their specific categories. D'ABRUZZO, known for his tender lamb skewers with a homemade spicy oil, tender, seasoned and delicious won Best Market. The Vendy Award went to this amazing couple who have been in business for over 10 yrs, Royal Grill Halal Food. When i took a plate of Chicken Tikka Masala and walked away, after eating the entire dish i had to return to his cart and let him know how much i enjoyed his dish and his face lit up in joy. This celebration each year is certainly an accolades to all their hard work yearly. Congrats to all winners.
