Battery Dance Festival

Battery Dance, host of the Battery Dance Festival and workshop series, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Based in Lower Manhattan, its founder and artistic director Jonathan Hollander has produced nearly 100 original dance works in collaboration with a diverse array of composers, designers, and a cast of outstanding dancers. Together, company dancers and workshop leaders, Mira Cook and Sean Scantlebury, have led Dance to Connect Workshops and performed in over 64 countries. Mira is also a singer/composer and performs regularly in New York City and abroad and has released three solo albums.Sean, Battery Dance’s longest-standing company dancer, is a performer and teacher who is equally adept within the styles of modern, ballet and hip-hop and credited for performing at the European Conference on Tolerance in 2003.
