Throughout this year, the nation and the Black community especially has faced a tremendous amount of uncertainty, grief and triumph. Art is one of our most powerful tools for individual and collective self expression, and film is an incredible medium to share our stories. The Apollo is proud to continue our partnership with the Harlem-based media arts group, ImageNation, for Black LIFE Matters; a deeply introspective celebration of Black life.
This collection of eight short films will be followed by a spirited discussion on cinema, filmmaking and the future of Black film. After the screening, stay for an in-depth conversation with several of the evening’s filmmakers who are some of today’s brightest and innovative artists on the scene.
