There BACK!! We were informed that this is the last year unfortunately of the best food truck event in NYC! If you didnt have a chance to attend now is the time to taste and vote on who will take home The Vendy Award 2019 Trophy. The Vendy Awards is an annual street food competition that determines the best street food vendors in New York City. We celebrate the excellent food available on our city’s streets and the hard-working people who bring it to us each day – and who are usually (otherwise) given little acclaim or even respect. We celebrate vendors and their delicious contribution to our city.
Each year thousands of guests eagerly purchase tickets to sample food from publicly nominated vendors in various categories. The winners are chosen by attendees as well as a panel of celebrity judges that includes chefs, television personalities and city officials.
The Vendy Awards serves as a fundraiser for the Street Vendor Project, a membership-based non-profit organization that stands up for vendors’ rights while providing legal and small-business services. SVP is currently campaigning to get the city to remove the cap on food vending permits that has created huge barriers for vendors since it was put in place, at the urging of big businesses, in 1983.
